Test your wedding etiquette IQ!

I was browsing around on The Knot (avoiding things I should’ve been doing!) last night and came across this Wedding Etiquette quiz! There are 8 questions…..I got 4 right/4 wrong….Does that mean I failed?? :o ( I don’t like to fail at quizzes or tests (I get to make kids fail now that I’m the teacher! Haha! Just kiddin!)!

I’m usually pretty aware of what wedding etiquette should be, and the ones I got wrong…my answer was pretty close to being right!!

Wedding etiquette/traditions I’m all for………
- RSVPing!!! Why does no one do this anymore??!!! PLEASE DO IT!!! DO IT ALREADY!!!
- Keeping your registries off the invites!
- First Dances, Last Dances, Father/Daughter, Mother/Son dances
- Save the Dates
- Out of Town baskets
- Finding good deals for my wedding party, so I don’t break their banks to marry me off!!
- Quickly writing thank-you notes

Wedding etiquette/traditions I know you should do…but I just don’t get why it’s important!!….
- Calligraphy on invites
- The inner envelopes on invites (who cares about either!!!)
- The bride side vs. groom side (we WON’T be doing this….my student’s would overrun my side!)
- Smooshing the cake all over your new spouse’s face (there will be war if Ray does this!)
- Tossing the bouquet (I caught one about 8 years ago as a bridesmaid! Was I next to get married??….NO!!)
- Dancing with the guy who caught the garter after catching the bouquet (Retarded! Of course, it was the guy who’d been tryin to hit on me all night……now he gets to go up my dress?? don’t think so!!)
-Awkward moments of staring at each other while waiting for a song to end during the ceremony!
- Decorating the bride/groom’s get-a-way car (I’m still finding things used for Kerri and Adam’s cars stuffed in pockets, random places in suitcases, etc….)

Ok, so maybe there are more things I don’t like, than things I do…….any wedding etiquitte or traditions that drive you crazy??!!

Meet “The Fabuless Bride”

Recently, Ashley of Ashley’s Bride Guide asked me to be a featured guest blogger on her site! Super excited about it, I immediately agreed, and she set to work creating my blogger image (above) which I am also totally excited about! Most of my entries on her site will come from this one, but you can still go check me out there by going to my page on her site!

The Fabuless Bride is my new persona- as I am a bride on a mission to create a fabulous wedding at the cheapest price possible!! Trying to save up that extra money for our honeymoon or stuff for our new place (wherever that might be!!).

If you are just reading my blog, and haven’t visited Ashley’s, you really should! It’s specifically for Nashville Brides, but has lots of great info on wedding trends/style that any bride could use!!

Welcome to my blog!!

Well, here is my little attempt at conquering the “blog-world.” I am by no means a pro at this, but I LOVE reading blogs- especially those of people I know and at the moment, I’m currently obsessed with WEDDING blogs!! Hmmm….could that have anything to do with the fact that I am getting married in a few short months??  I figured this might be a good way for me to record all of the amazing things I find while surfing the net hour after hour searching for the perfect accompaniments to the biggest day of my life! Some of them will be WAY out of my personal reach, but things that I just absolutely adore and can only dream of! Others may be things that I actually turn into reality for my big day….and still others will have NOTHING to do with weddings, but will still probably be pretty girlie!!!

So welcome! And please leave me comments and check out the blogs that I have linked to!! And a shout out to them (even if they don’t ever read this!!) If you are planning a Nashville wedding, DEFINITELY look up Mary Alice at A Delightful Day to get help planning your big day, and also check out Ashley’s awesome website, blog and message boards at Ashley’s Bride Guide. Mary Alice and I sang together in choir back in the day at DCA (and now work together!), and this past weekend I got the chance to meet Ashley (whose booth was right next to Mary Alice!) at the Perfect Wedding Guide bridal show at the Frist. She’s awesome!! So currently……those two blogs are some of my favorite things!!

Look for more soon!!!!
